What do style icons have in common ? If you think about it, they all have instantly recognizable style. But the comparisons stop here : because not one look like another,.. Being stylish is not about following trends or copying famous people, it’s about finding who you really are, and expressing it.

People also often have the misconception there is a ‘blogger look’ ! And while that may be true for some, I think all the famous fashion bloggers have that much success because they managed to create their own vision and aesthetics, and not one could be accused of having the same style as another.

As for me, I believe (hope anyway !) I have my very own style. Of course, I can be influenced by beautiful women I saw on the street, by my mother or pictures I stumbled upon on the web, but when I get dressed, I only think about what I like and what will look good on me.

That said, I know that’s not 100% true during summer… This is the only time of the year I sometimes don’t even recognize myself when it comes to choosing outfits. Yesterday’s post was all about chic meats cheap (an outfit I felt was ‘me’), but today, I was inspired by a more glamourous approach to fashion. When I am in the South of France, suddenly all I think about are old movie stars, Grace Kelly and the Film Festival. Not saying I think of myself as a star (obviously not), but once in a while, it’s great to forget ripped jeans and parisian rules, and wear a dress (gasp !), bright heels, and beautiful Hermès accessories.

So maybe I won’t try to stick to my style, and change it up a bit sometimes, but if that keeps fashion interesting to my eyes, that’s all that matters (and I wasn’t planning on becoming a style icon anyway !)

---------------

  7. I think you're so right about what separates the most successful bloggers from the rest of the "fash-pack". They have all carved out a real individualism to the way they style pieces so, even if they are following similar seasonal trends, they still stand out in their own unique way. Thanks for this post - I found it really interesting - just followed you :)
