Burberry is an iconic brand, and Christopher Bailey truly does an amazing job every season, creating clothes and accessories that always are on every fashionista's wishlist.

But the easily recognizable and famous tartan check is not as popular as it used to be... For several years now, fashion has been all about understated and discreet luxury. It is better to suggest than to reveal, and the same goes for logos.

The success of fashion houses such as Céline or Hermès prove that you don't need to show what brands you're wearing to be chic, and as Coco Chanel said, 'luxury is not the opposite of poverty, it's the opposite of vulgarity'.

Therefore, you don't see a lot of monogrammed bags these days, and the Burberry tartan looks a bit dated. But I have this beautiful silk scarf, and I don't want not to wear it anymore just because trends say so.

To pull off logos, I aways get inspired by a British Vogue editor, Sarah Harris, who wears her Vuitton bags (and shoes !) in the most effortless way : I make sure I don't build my whole look around one ostentatious logo (or in this case a Burberry scarf), but rather integrates it into my look, as if I had grabbed it without even thinking about it.

I am wearing quite a casual look (compared to yesterday), very basic with a twist : ripped jeans and a grey jumper, a long trench coat that I really love, and this tartan scarf, that matches pretty well with the fallen leaves, don't you think ?

---------------

  2. I agree- when only you and a trained eye recognises tge brand it is the ultimate luxury. Having said that, it's difficult with designers as so many of their things are so highly coveted and instantly recognisable. I say-wear the scarf. It's beautiful and it would be a shame not to!

  6. It's funny how fashion moves across the globe. In Germany, for example, label flashing is still a big thing. People love to shamelessly show off what brands and designers they're wearing - the more the better. And I used to be the same way, but things have changed since I moved to London. Not that I own any new designers pieces, but if I did, I'd definitely prefer the ones only connaisseurs would recognize ;)

Great look by the way. You're the queen of mixing casual and chic :)

    1. Oh yes, it really is different everywhere, but in Paris (or London), things are really different, labels and logos are not that well perceived !

And thank you so much !
