I am not the sporty type. Not in my life, not in fashion. Some women wear this trend perfectly, and from time to time, I kind of wish to look like them : athletic, chic, healthy. In fact, I even think this is the biggest fashion trend in Paris of these last few years.

So what's it all about ? First, don't you think even for a second that it means all parisian women suddenly decided to stop eating croissants and go to the gym club instead. No, my friends, the sporty trend is not about real sports, it's about pretending to be that healthy beauty who doesn't smoke and goes for a run at 6am every morning. La Parisienne will never be a New Yorker, but she damn can try to look like one.

Because the truth is, in Paris, we kind of feel bad of the comparisons with women from London, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Beirut... Yes, we know, we have an effortless style, blah blah, but we don't eat green like women in LA, we don't hit the gym every morning, we don't always put make up on our faces, we go out, we smoke (most of us anyway...), we drink lots of wine.

So after growing tired of always feeling like the bad example, la Parisienne decided to look like the healthy woman she is not. Bye bye heels, hello sneakers, long gone the feminine coat, she likes a bomber jacket much more... In Paris nowadays, nothing is cooler than looking as if you were just back from a running session. Of course, you must never forget that we're not talking real sports clothes here ! Leggings are out, and it's best to wear jeans or leather pants and a bright lipstick to stay chic, but you get the point. We call it 'sporty chic' for a reason !

Me, as you can tell, this is not my favorite style. But because I also like to look casual sometimes (especially when I decided to wear that look on Saturday to go shopping after four days stuck in my bed), I can pair some sporty leather shorts from Isabel Marant with that incredible silk bomber jacket from 3.1 Philip Lim. I also wear my fav beanie, and that was my best casual and sporty look. Well, of course, you know me, I just had to add a pair of heels, but when they're as comfortable as a pair of sneakers, it doesn't count, right ?

-----------------

  20. I must say that your are one of the few fashion bloggers in the world (or at least the only one of those who I`m familiar with) who can write in such an interesting way, not only about fashion, but also some aspects of everyday life and culture. I read your posts with real pleasure, Iike I would talk with very intelligent woman :) The big fan of books as I am suggest you to publish someday a book maybe?
And last but not the least: your style is amazing, this efortless elegance and great attitude toward fashion and trends ohh:)
