Believe me or not, but before I started posting on Instagram, I couldn't stand seeing pictures of me. That's why I can't really do 'throwback Thursday', as I always look awkward and/or weird in old pics. I had never been this girl eager to be famous, or admired by many, for me it was kind of superficial.

But it hit me : one day, I'll be that old lady who doesn't have any pictures to show her grandkids what she used to look like. I realized that making memories was great, but having a visual reminder of all the good times I was living was even better.

And all of a sudden, I became much more at ease in front of a camera. I'm not going to lie though, a year ago, I was still pretty self-conscious when we went out to take pictures. Whenever people around were staring at me, I thought they were making fun of us, and you could totally feel that I was not very natural. Our photoshoots were not a pleasure, and at one point I wondered if it was worth it.

But weeks after weeks, I got accustomed to that whole thing. Now I just laugh with people, because let's face it, it's kind of funny to see someone posing in a middle of a street, and I really enjoy it !

The only thing is, I never know whether I should smile or not. If you saw me walking down the street, you would probably think I look like a complete snob as I don't smile at all. People always tell me I look super cold, à la Bree Van de Kamp. But when you learn to know me, I'm even one bit like that. I am shy, yes, but I also love smiling and laughing.

I think my pictures show those both sides. Sometimes I look super serious and not friendly, very 'blogger' in a way, and other times I look more natural, more 'me'. Which version do you prefer ?

-----------------

  5. As a blogger, it is hard to get comfortable in front of the camera. You always seem to take great pictures though. Thanks for sharing.

  11. I totally understand! U know what? Sometimes I really prefer shots where a blogger (not just u or me) doesn't smile, it's a like a bit of detachment could makes shots better (and for smiles there is still Instagram :D).

  12. I know what you mean :) when I take pictures people stop to look and I wave back at them. I don't know how else to react, but it's fun to see how surprised they are by my noticing and waving :) also I'm not an instagram guru and many times I feel awkward when posing for pictures. But one thing that i do is smile, I can't do the hole non expression fashion pictures yet. I love your writing <3

  13. I know what you mean haha, taking the pictures are scary and uncomfortable because you're putting yourself out there for everyone to see but I think a mix of smiling and not smiling is good. Approachable but not cheesy.
